Tinted Hue was founded by cousins Chris and Rashiid Coleman. Rashiid, a educator and father and Chris, an aspiring author realized the importance of children's self-concept, identity, and understanding of their place in the world are all shaped by representation in literature.

Inspired by Rashiid's daughter Hendrix, the two cousins created a platform that would provide representation for children and teens of color in literature, audio and interactive content.

Chris and Rashiid recognized the power of seeing characters who look like Hendrix in stories. It validates the existence of children of color and reinforces the idea that their experiences and challenges are worth sharing. When children see themselves reflected in books, it promotes a sense of belonging and helps them connect with the narrative on a deeper level. This connection not only nurtures their love for reading but positively impacts their self-esteem and confidence.
